Cepea, April 4, 2022 – After rising for two consecutive weeks, wheat prices (paid to farmers and in the wholesale market) resumed dropping in Brazil in the last week of March, following the US dollar depreciation against the Real, which reduces the import parity and favors purchases from abroad.
Despite the recent devaluations, the monthly averages are at the highest nominal levels in the series of Cepea, which began in 2004. This scenario may lead farmers to increase the area allocated to wheat crops in Brazil, however, high production costs may constrain increases
