Cepea, January 14, 2022 – Projections indicate a recovery in the 2022/23 sugarcane production in Brazil, mainly due to the higher productivity compared to the previous crop (2021/22).
If the estimates of a relatively favorable weather scenario in early 2022 are confirmed, the increase of sugarcane used to produce sugar and ethanol may result in a higher supply for both products. Attractive prices of ethanol in 2021, records in real terms, may encourage an increase on the focus on ethanol in the production mix
