Prices drop in Brazil in the first fortnight of the 2019/20 season

Cepea, April 17 2019 – The crop beginning scenario pressed down crystal sugar quotes in the Brazilian spot market in the first half of April, which was the first official fortnight of the 2019/20 season in the central-southern region of the country. Slightly more than 30% of the refineries sample from São Paulo had already started crushing the sugarcane from the new season by April 5. However, only a few of them were producing the Icumsa 180 sugar from the new crop to sell in the spot market
