POSSIBLE LOWER DEMAND AND ESTIMATES FOR A RECORD CROP PRESS DOWN QUOTES IN APRIL

Cepea, April 17 – In the first fortnight of April, corn prices were pressed down by speculations regarding the possible reduction in the domestic demand, coming from the lower interest from the poultry and swine sectors, besides the higher availability of corn in the short-term, mainly in the regions that produce summer corn. Estimates for a record second crop and the entry of the corn harvested in the northwestern region of SP (Baixa Mogiana) reinforced price drops. Besides, some growers preferred to trade corn rather than soybean, expecting more attractive quotes for soybean in the future
