Cepea, January 12, 2018 – The volume of sugar cane crushed in central-southern Brazil in the 2018/19 year-crop is forecast to increase, with averages estimated at 586 million tons, slightly higher than in the 2017/18 year-crop.
As for the production mix in the same region, ethanol production is estimated to increase compared to the 2017/18 year-crop, since the Brazilian economy should start to bounce back and ethanol consumption increase, in addition to higher liquidity of ethanol to plants and low levels of international sugar prices.
