Cepea, April 2 – Despite the sugar production decrease, the average price for crystal sugar in the spot market of São Paulo State in the 2018/19 crop was lower than that in the 2017/18 season. In the last quarter of the current season in São Paulo (Jan/19 to Mar/19), the average of the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for crystal sugar was higher than in the same period last year, but that was not enough to push up the average sugar price of the season.
