Although wheat imports are high, prices continue firm in Brazil

Cepea, December 17 2018 – Wheat trades were stepping up in some of the Brazilian regions surveyed by Cepea in the first half of December, but the low supply of higher quality wheat limited new deals. Thus, many mills were importing the product, mainly from Mercosur countries, which comply with the requirements regarding flour production. In this scenario, wheat importations were high, but prices continued firm in Brazil, reflecting the higher costs of the product imported
