Cepea, August 17 2018 – Crystal sugar prices dropped in the spot market of São Paulo State in the first fortnight of August – the downward trend of quotes started in early July. On August 2, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for crystal sugar (São Paulo), Icumsa color from 130 to 180, returned to around 50 BRL per 50-kilo bag, level not observed since the 2008/09 season, in real terms (values were deflated by the IGP-DI from June/18).
