Cepea, April 3 – With the harvesting of the summer crop nearing the end in some Brazilian regions, growers are starting to focus on the sowing of winter crops, mainly in Paraná, where the activities should begin in the second fortnight of April.
For the new 2017/18 wheat crop, growers have started to purchase inputs, but, according to Cepea collaborators, trades have been slower this year compared to the previous year. This is attributed to a possible smaller area allocated to wheat this season in Brazil, due to weather uncertainties, larger production in Argentina, weakened domestic demand and prices below the minimum established by the government
